Rockies shuffle roster with four moves

08/27/2010 - Denver, CO (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Colorado Rockies re-tooled their roster Friday, making four separate moves that included disabling right-hander Manuel Corpas and calling up lefty Franklin Morales from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Infielder Clint Barmes was placed on the bereavement list/family medical emergency list, with both he and Corpas' move to the 15-day DL retroactive to August 26th. Lastly, right-hander Samuel Deduno was recalled from Colorado Springs.

Corpas, 27, has gone 3-5 with a 4.62 earned run average in 56 relief appearances this season. In 62 1/3 innings he has 47 strikeouts and 22 walks. Corpas also filled in for injured closer Huston Street earlier in the year and saved 10-of-14 games.

Morales, 24, makes his return to the big league roster for the first time since being optioned on June 30. The southpaw hurler was 0-3 with a 6.75 ERA over 23 games at the time of his demotion. Morales began the season as the Rockies' closer and saved 3-of-6 opportunities.

He went on to post a 3-0 mark and 2.67 ERA in 24 appearances for the Sky Sox.

Barmes has played the entire season manning either second base or shortstop and is batting .240 with eight home runs, 49 RBI and a .305 on-base percentage in 112 games.

The 27-year-old Deduno will be looking to make his Major League debut. He's made six starts for Colorado Spring this year and holds a 3-1 record with a 2.93 ERA.
